The problem:
A municipality invested in its first electric vehicle to support solid waste collection and respond to miscollections in Cape Town. They needed to make the investment visible and use bold branding and messaging that would encourage homeowners to start separating recyclable packaging from waste.

The solution:
Municipalities generally favour corporate colours due to their association with government. We convinced them to do the opposite, using bold, bright branding and messaging with a more upbeat and playful tone.

The results:
Good design changes behaviour. Once the electric vehicle hit the road, homeowners from the municipality noticed it and began separating recyclable packaging from waste. This led to a measurable decrease in the volume of valuable recyclable packaging being sent to landfill.
